Editing is taking out loud ambient noise; pops, clicks, loud breaths, mouth noise and other distracting sounds; as well as adjusting the silence between words within sentences and paragraphs. This can change the pacing of the narration, and also helps the listener distinguish between characters in dialog. Editing also includes inserting pickups when errors are found. Pickups may also be required when extraneous noises are present in the narration which cannot be removed through editing.
